Accessibility Improvements:
Chicago Public Schools—Student Accommodations
AltusWorks provided full architectural services to accommodate students with disabilities at nine neighborhood schools. The firm conducted visual surveys to assess the existing conditions at each school and interviewed school personnel and the affected students. AltusWorks then developed a scope of work and budget that would achieve the desired accessibility, coordinating consultants to create solutions for the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and life safety systems. For each school, AltusWorks prepared construction documents and administrated the construction process, minimizing impact on regular school activities.
