Accessibility Improvements:
Hyatt Regency Chicago Renovation
As the Architect of Record for the renovation of 962 guestrooms in the West
Tower at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, AltusWorks collaborated with a
California interior designer to develop universal design solutions to meet
current accessibility code requirements while maximizing budget efficiencies.
AltusWorks met with the City of Chicago Mayor’s Office for People with
Disabilities to facilitate the accessible unit dispersion, address impacted
infrastructure and capture all nuances of the overlapping code requirements.
An eligibility exception was obtained from the City of Chicago to permit the
project under the Self-Certification Permit program, allowing the owners to
meet their accelerated schedule.
