CTA Grand, Chicago and Division Station Renovations

As the Street Level Designer collaborating with Muller + Muller on the F.H. Paschen Design/Build team for the the renovation of Chicago Transit Authority’s (CTA) Grand, Chicago and Division Blue Line Stations, AltusWorks led the design adaptation of their successful entrance canopy at Harrison Station to meet the context specific challenges of the three multi-street intersections, triangular public plazas and dense urban conditions.   The project is part of the ‘Your New Blue’ Program (YNB) launched by the City in 2015 and the ongoing improvements to Chicago’s mass transit system.

This section of CTA Blue Line, commonly referred to as the Dearborn  Subway, links the North-South section in Chicago’s Central Business District to the Northwest line to O’Hare International Airport. One of the lines with the fastest growing ridership, YNB provide mid-life station repairs and modernization in keeping with the overall system upgrades.
