Fulton Street Wholesale Market Company Building Adaptive Reuse
Two of the oldest original meatpacking buildings at the entrance of the newly established Fulton Randolph Market Historic District have been transformed from their origins in the poultry trade and meat packing industry into a unique mixed-use entertainment venue.
AltusWorks served as the Historic Preservation Architect charged with determining the restoration program for the historic brick, terra cotta, limestone and cast iron facades while allowing replacement of the primary structural system. Due to widely varying levels of deterioration and with the blessing of the City’s Landmark Commission, the more significant façade was braced, stabilized and restored in situ whereas the other was carefully dismantled and rebuilt in its entirety with integrated salvaged decorative masonry and cast iron elements
