University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago Envelope Assessment
Conducting a comprehensive assessment of the exterior envelope systems of this 1979 Bertrand Goldberg/A. Epstein designed building as part of a larger infrastructure modernization and renovation, AltusWorks provided a thorough analysis of their systems’ conditions and identified original design shortcomings. Prioritizing an initial scope of work to fit within the established budget, a 10-year-plan addressed the remainder of the necessary repairs. For the most critical issues, AltusWorks developed a prototype for window replacement and thermal improvements to the faceted precast concrete panel wall system, which was successfully implemented at the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit.
