Landmarks Preservation Council of Illinois

The owner of a Richard Romanesque three flat located on North Avenue in Chicago donated the building’s historic façade to Landmarks Preservation Council of Illinois (LPCI), through its Easement Program. In exchange for a one-time federal tax deduction, LPCI monitors all proposed work to the façade. The owner is seeking LPCI approval for repairs to decorative metal and wood elements, as well as removal and replacement of modern, unsympathetic EIFS siding on the 3rd floor bay. LPCI Board Member and AltusWorks Principal Ellen Stoner is assisting by verifying the historic elements of the building, determining their condition and recommending alternative designs and materials for any contemporary alterations.
